Florida: Siesta Key

While contemplating about where I wanted to go in Florida, I reached out to some friends on Instagram and learned about Siesta Key.  It’s located near Sarasota, on Florida’s Gulf Coast with clear azure water and white powdery sand that stretches on for miles, it’s not hard to see why it’s ranked as the #1 beach in America.

Florida: Hollywood

Usually, by this time of the year, we’ve already visited a few countries, so our friends and family found it surprising when we told them we still had no travel plans.  We have been busy with our 9-5 jobs (yes we still have those) in the first half of 2017 and have not had time to really plan, let alone go anywhere.  When June rolled around, I felt like we were overdue for another trip, especially one with a lot of R&R at the beach.

Photo of the Week: Golden Hour

IMG_0443 Florida, USA

One of my favorite memories of our trip to Florida was undoubtedly the gorgeous sunset at Siesta Beach. We joined the throngs of people looking West, watching the sun slowly descend into the horizon.  As the sun went down, the sky turned into a golden spectacle, casting a soft glow on anything and everything that it touched.  We lingered until the last bit of light disappeared before making our way back home.

Photo of the Week: Cà d’Zan

We recently got back from our short vacation and I can’t wait to share some of the places we’ve visited.  One of my favorites was the massive, well-maintained Ringling estate. The beautiful Ca d’Zan was the winter home of the Circus King, John Ringling. The waterfront residence overlooks Sarasota Bay and reminds me of the Doge’s Palace in Venice. Check back next week for more posts from my Florida trip.
